Satya Dev's transformation

A behind-the-scenes video titled "Into the World of Rao Bahadur," released by the makers, showcased Satya Dev's physical transformation into the aging aristocrat. The footage, as presented by the production, showed the actor undergoing a detailed prosthetics and styling process, including custom contact lenses and period costuming such as an ornate sherwani, pearl necklaces, and a turban. While he realises the importance of technology and understands how the industry is being driven by it, he continues to add his personal touch. He feels that it cannot be replaced, and it helps build better relationships with clients too.

He said, "Technology has transformed the way we understand and serve our clients, but I firmly believe that beauty remains a deeply human experience. While innovation allows us to improve efficiency, personalise recommendations, and deliver more consistent results, it can never replace genuine human connection."

Organiser Archana Bairathi said the sessions are meant to draw out the talent hidden in each child and send them into the finale fully self-assured. Child actor Arvik Bairathi attended, along with Jeevan, Vipin and Ankita.

Makeup and beauty expert Meenakshi Solanki walked the children and their parents through the essentials of grooming. Her message was simple: real style isn't about flash, it's about keeping things understated. Skin care, hairstyling and stage looks got special attention so that every child came across as natural and confident for their age.

Teaching the kids how to own the ramp was Shagun Bhardwaj, a top finalist at Elite Miss Rajasthan 2025 and a grooming expert. She broke down the finer points of posing and stage presence. Gaurii comes from an orthodox family where girls are traditionally married off at a very young age. However, her parents believed in education and ensured that she completed her studies. Later, she pursued an MBA and also joined her father's business, which helped her become financially independent and shaped her entrepreneurial mindset.

Sharing her experience at the competition, Gaurii says, "Representing India on an international platform and winning four medals was an unforgettable experience. In a country where sports other than cricket often don't receive the same level of attention, facilities, or recognition, achieving success becomes even more meaningful. The most emotional moment was standing on the podium and hearing the national anthem play. The goosebumps and pride that come with representing your country cannot be explained in words. It is a feeling every athlete dreams of experiencing."

When asked about her fitness journey, she says, "My fitness journey started when I was in Class 12. I had gained a lot of weight and decided to join a gym to get fit. During my training, my coach noticed that I had natural strength and could lift heavier weights than most beginners. He suggested that I try powerlifting. I participated in a competition, won, and became addicted to the feeling of success. From that point onward, powerlifting became my passion and eventually my profession."

Gaurii also shares how her family's support has helped her. "My family's support has been one of the biggest reasons behind my success. Coming from a conservative background, it wasn't easy to pursue sports, but my parents always stood by me. They encouraged me to study, supported my decisions, and gradually became my strongest pillars throughout my journey."

“Building for scale before purpose is a fragile strategy,” Gauravv says. “When I was in the trenches in Uganda building Watu Credit, I realized that if we focused only on the numbers, we would have missed the point. We were providing financial tools to the ‘unbankable.’ The scale came because the purpose was so deeply rooted in solving a genuine, painful problem. Purpose is the engine; scale is just the byproduct.”

Reflecting on the lessons that shaped him as an entrepreneur, he admits that his early beliefs about business were challenged by reality. “As a first-time entrepreneur, I believed that ‘if you build it, they will come.’ I thought technical excellence or a great model was enough,” he shares. 

“My time in Uganda taught me that distribution and local trust are the real gatekeepers. You can have the perfect financial product, but without being on the ground earning the trust of the local community, it’s just an idea.”

In an era where viral success often dominates headlines, Gauravv emphasizes that attention alone cannot sustain a business. “In our current viral economy, attention is the entry fee, but quality is the retention strategy,” he says. “You might capture eyes with a viral moment, but if the product doesn’t deliver value, the retention cliff is inevitable. At Watu, we didn’t have the luxury of virality; we had to deliver real financial utility every single day. That is the only thing that builds long-term brand equity.”

Looking ahead, he says that if he were starting from scratch in 2026, he would approach certain aspects differently while holding firmly to some core principles. “I would prioritize building a personal brand and community-led distribution before the product launch. I would also integrate AI tools from day one to keep the operational core lean,” he explains. “What I would refuse to change is the boots-on-the-ground philosophy. Even in a digital world, you have to be close to your customer. Whether it was the boda-boda drivers in Uganda or my current digital community, the principle remains the same—you must intimately understand the person you are serving.”

While failure is often romanticized as a learning experience, Gauravv believes the true cost is far more personal. “Beyond the learning narrative, failure has a real cost: time,” he says. “I recall moments at Watu when an operational pivot didn’t go as planned, and the cost wasn’t just the capital—it was the missed time I couldn’t get back with my team or my family. When you lose time, you cannot iterate it back. That is the non-negotiable cost of entrepreneurship.”

His definition of success has also evolved significantly over the years. “When I started, success was about milestones—the size of the loan book or the market footprint,” he says. “Now, I define success as sovereignty. It is the ability to choose what I work on, who I work with, and having the bandwidth to be present for my son, Aekansh. Success is no longer just about the what; it’s about the quality of life while achieving it.”

As artificial intelligence continues to reshape industries, Gauravv believes that human qualities will remain irreplaceable. “AI can analyze risk and optimize logistics—things we spent hours doing manually at Watu,” he notes. “But AI cannot empathize. It cannot bridge a trust gap with a customer who has never had access to a bank, and it cannot inspire a team during a crisis. The human role in business is to provide the why and the moral compass.”

He also warns founders against glorifying hustle culture at the expense of their well-being. “Hustle becomes an unhealthy obsession when you lose the ability to disconnect,” he says. “In the early days of Watu, the line between dedication and obsession was thin. If your entire self-worth is tied to your daily output, you’ve lost the plot. A healthy business needs a founder who is capable of sustaining their own health because if you burn out, the company follows.”

Speaking about India’s startup landscape, Gauravv sees both imitation and innovation at play, but believes the most meaningful breakthroughs are emerging from grassroots problem-solving. “India’s ecosystem is a mix, but we are currently seeing a heavy reliance on imitation of Western models,” he says. “The real breakthrough value, however, is being created by those innovating at the grassroots level. My experience in Africa taught me that the most disruptive innovations come from solving local constraints—something I see more and more founders beginning to grasp here in India.”

Addressing one of the most common myths surrounding entrepreneurship, he offers a reality check. “The biggest misconception is that entrepreneurship is about freedom,” Gauravv says. “In reality, it is the highest form of self-imposed accountability. You don’t escape the 9-to-5—you become the one responsible for everyone else’s 9-to-5. It is a transition from having a boss to being a servant to your mission, your team, and your customers.”

On April 7, TRAI released the Draft Telecom Consumer Protection (Thirteenth Amendment) Regulation, 2026, asking all telecom operators to provide dedicated Voice and SMS-only tariff vouchers corresponding to every validity period of their existing bundled plans that include voice, SMS, and data.

The core idea is simple yet powerful: if an operator sells a 28-day, 56-day, or any other validity bundled recharge, it must also offer a matching voice-and-SMS-only voucher at a proportionally lower price that excludes the cost of data. This ensures users who do not need or use mobile internet are not forced to pay for it.

This proposal follows TRAI’s earlier 2024 regulation that had made it mandatory for operators to offer at least one voice and SMS-only Special Tariff Voucher (STV). However, the regulator found that such options remain very limited in the market. Many consumers, especially senior citizens, rural residents, and feature phone users, have repeatedly raised concerns that they are left with little choice except to buy data-heavy bundles they rarely utilise.

According to the draft document, TRAI received several representations from consumers and stakeholders requesting shorter-duration voice and SMS-only recharge packs that better suit their needs. These users primarily depend on voice calls to stay connected with family and occasional SMS for important communication, without any requirement for internet data.

If the new rules come into effect, they are expected to benefit a large section of society, including:

• Senior citizens who use mobile phones mainly for calling their children and grandchildren.
• People living in rural and remote areas where high-speed data is either unavailable or unaffordable.
• Users of basic feature phones that do not support heavy data usage.
• Budget-conscious individuals looking for simple, low-cost recharge options without unwanted data packs.

The regulator believes that mandating corresponding voice and SMS-only vouchers for every bundled plan validity period will bring more transparency and fairness in telecom pricing. It will also prevent operators from indirectly pushing customers towards higher-value bundled plans even when data services are not required.

In recent years, India’s telecom market has seen a massive shift towards data-centric offerings from leading players. While this has helped millions access affordable internet, it has also created a gap for those who still rely heavily on traditional voice and messaging services. TRAI’s latest proposal seeks to bridge this gap and ensure every consumer segment gets plans tailored to their actual usage.

The draft regulation is now open for public consultation. TRAI has published the document on its official website and invited written comments from all stakeholders, including telecom companies, consumer groups, and individual citizens. The last date for submitting feedback is April 28, 2026. Comments can be sent electronically to Shri Vijay Kumar, Advisor (Financial & Economic Analysis), TRAI.

Speakers included Lakhvir Singh, a Solicitor at Alexander & Co Solicitors LLP in Nottingham, UK; Gurprit Mattu, a Commercial Litigation Barrister and Mediator based in London; Manish Jain and Aman Pal, both Senior Advocates at the Punjab and Haryana High Court; and Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Hajela, Executive Director of UILS. The discussion was moderated by Amanat Kahlon, Assistant Professor at UILS.

The core theme centred on how frequent engagement with the legal system gives institutional litigants distinct advantages — deeper procedural knowledge, better risk assessment, stronger legal teams, and greater financial staying power — often placing ordinary citizens at a structural disadvantage. Panellists explored whether existing rules and emerging practices can effectively level the playing field.

Lakhvir Singh, drawing from his experience in the UK jurisdiction, explained that repeat litigants typically develop sharper pre-litigation strategies. “They are generally more aware of when it is sensible to proceed with litigation and when it may be more appropriate to resolve a dispute outside court,” he said. He emphasised, however, that once a case enters court, outcomes hinge on the merits, evidence, and legal arguments rather than prior experience alone. The UK’s Civil Procedure Rules, he noted, apply uniformly and aim to ensure predictability and fairness for all parties.

Gurprit Mattu highlighted the growing preference for early mediation, particularly in commercial matters. “Early mediation can level the playing field because neither party has yet incurred heavy legal costs,” he observed. He pointed to the high cost risks in English litigation — where even a victorious party may recover only a portion of expenses — as a key driver behind the rise of mediation. Unlike arbitration or full court proceedings, mediation often resolves disputes in a single session or short timeframe, preserving business relationships and reducing expense.

From the Indian perspective, Senior Advocate Manish Jain described the practical burdens faced by individual litigants. Prolonged proceedings, multiple appeals, and the need for separate execution actions after winning can overwhelm private parties, while institutional opponents have the resources to sustain long battles. Jain suggested that courts imposing meaningful costs on parties pursuing frivolous claims could help deter unnecessary litigation and ease pressure on the judicial system.

Echoing the strategic dimension, Senior Advocate Aman Pal remarked that repeated exposure to litigation sharpens an understanding of risk mitigation and cost control. “Repeat or institutional litigants… often develop a clearer understanding of these aspects,” he said, enabling more informed decisions about whether to litigate or settle.

Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Hajela, summarising the session’s value, described the deliberations as “highly insightful and fruitful.” He highlighted key takeaways: the importance of promoting mediation, reducing unnecessary court battles, and pursuing institutional reforms to improve access to justice. He noted strong appreciation from students, young lawyers, faculty, and other attendees, underlining how such platforms connect classroom theory with courtroom realities.

By hosting this discussion during India International Disputes Week 2026, Chandigarh University reinforced its commitment to fostering dialogue on contemporary legal challenges and equipping future lawyers with practical, policy-oriented perspectives. The event also contributed to broader national efforts to position India as a trusted centre for efficient, fair, and internationally respected dispute resolution — whether through litigation, arbitration, or mediation. As institutional litigants continue to dominate dockets in many jurisdictions, conversations like this remain essential for identifying safeguards that protect the rights and realities of ordinary citizens within the justice system.

The conference, organized by B-Hive — the Birla Hub for Innovation, Venturing & Entrepreneurship under the Birla School of Management — drew collaboration from the Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center at Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management (USA) and Mid-West University in Surkhet, Nepal. This partnership underscored a shared focus on practical innovation that emerges from everyday needs rather than high-end resources.

In his welcome address, Dr. Suvendu Kumar Pratihari, Assistant Professor of Marketing & Entrepreneurship and Conference Chair, stressed the real-world value of grassroots and frugal approaches. He noted how these innovations often arise from necessity in resource-scarce settings, offering affordable answers with potential to scale beyond borders.

Prof. Kulbhushan Balooni, Vice-Chancellor of Birla Global University, reinforced the university's long-term vision. He pointed to India's deep history of grassroots ingenuity — from rural problem-solvers to everyday tinkerers — and how it continues to influence both local progress and broader global conversations on sustainable growth.

The event opened with Prof. Dhruba Kumar Gautam, Vice-Chancellor of Mid-West University, Nepal, as Chief Guest. Among the prominent voices were Prof. Anand Kumar Jaiswal from IIM Ahmedabad, Prof. S.P. Raj from Syracuse University, and Rajat Vardhan, founder and CEO of ScaNxt Scientific Technologies Pvt Ltd. Their sessions delved into frugal thinking and its role in emerging markets.

A key highlight came early when Birla Global University and Mid-West University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement aims to deepen ties through faculty and student exchanges, joint research projects, and collaborative efforts in entrepreneurship. Such partnerships are vital for cross-border knowledge sharing, especially in fields like innovation for inclusive development.

The conference featured focused technical discussions on building sustainable innovation systems, climate-resilient agriculture, and expanding grassroots ideas for wider economic inclusion. These sessions provided space for honest exchange on what works — and what doesn't — when turning local fixes into lasting impact.

Adding energy to the program was the Idea2Impact Bootcamp and Innovation Showcase, designed to spark student involvement in entrepreneurship. The bootcamp saw enthusiastic participation from 83 student ventures, who presented pitch decks and competed in challenges meant to sharpen real-world business skills.

The showcase itself featured 20 startups alongside two grassroots innovators, all displaying working prototypes. These ranged from cost-effective tools addressing daily problems in health, agriculture, and environment to clever hacks that deliver results without heavy investment. Participants demonstrated how necessity-driven creativity can produce solutions that are not only affordable but also adaptable to diverse contexts.

By hosting GFI 2026, Birla Global University has reinforced its role as a catalyst in Odisha's innovation journey. The event connected academic insight with on-the-ground action, while the new MoU with Mid-West University opens doors for ongoing cooperation. As emerging economies continue searching for equitable paths to progress, gatherings like this remind us that some of the most powerful answers often start small — in local communities with limited means but unlimited determination.

The conference closed on a note of optimism, with calls for continued support to such initiatives that bridge theory and practice, ultimately benefiting society at large.

Show Director Kirti Tank stated that the competition will serve as a strong platform to identify new talents from Rajasthan and help them move forward in the fashion and modeling industry. Around 1500 models from different cities of Rajasthan participated in the audition, following the black one-piece dress code.

She further informed that the selected semifinalists will undergo a five-day special grooming workshop, after which the finalists will take part in a three-day Grand Finale event. The Grand Finale of the competition will be held on 5 April at Anant Mahal Resort in a grand manner. The top winners will be awarded three scooters, along with several other grand prizes for the other winners.

During the audition, Pawan Tank (Director, Miss India Glam), Jyoti Tank (Director, India Glam), Soumya Sharma (Miss India Glam Radiant 2024), Khwahish Saini (Miss India Glam International 2024), Sheetal Vishwakarma (Miss India Glam Rajasthan 2025), and Rashmi Rathore (Grooming Expert) were present as jury members and evaluated the candidates through various rounds.

Several distinguished personalities were also present on this occasion, including Ashwin Beniwal (Owner, Club Teddy), Ramesh Narnolia (Chairman, Rajvesh The Royal Clothing), Amit Sarin, Gaurav Mudgal, and Anshul Bhargava (Directors, Black Rock), Lokendra Singh (GM, Anant Mahal), Pawan of Neeraj K. A key highlight of the second day, centered on the theme “Youth, Power and Democratic Renewal in the 21st Century”, was the keynote address by Shri Parshottam Rupala, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha, Rajkot). He reflected on “Youth, Rajkot, and a Life in Democratic Politics,” offering personal and political insights into sustained public service and the evolving role of youth in electoral democracy. 

This was followed by a fireside chat featuring Devyani Devender Singh Rana, Member of Legislative Assembly, Jammu and Kashmir, who discussed leadership in one of India’s most strategic regions and examined generational transition, political responsibility, and youth representation in state politics. Paul Dangshu, MLA from Tripura, highlighted youth leadership emerging from India’s northeastern region.

The primary objective of the two-day conference was to critically analyze the severe underrepresentation of youth in formal political systems both in India and globally. It aimed to identify the institutional barriers preventing youth entry into politics, explore the transition from grassroots and campus activism to formal policymaking, and propose actionable solutions ranging from digital toolkits to structural policy reforms to enhance meaningful civic engagement among the younger generation.

Mr Jeet Marwadi, Trustee, Marwadi University, shared, “While the youth are highly active in digital spaces, campus activism, and grassroots protests, they remain systematically locked out of formal legislative bodies. This two-day event resulted in the recognition of structural barriers limiting youth participation, the need for administrative and technological reforms, the importance of local governance as a site of renewal, and the growing interconnectedness of youth politics across borders. We always aim to move beyond symbolic conversations and focus on structural reforms. “

The announcement comes days before his death anniversary on 20th February, marking a deeply emotional and historic tribute.

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Brahmanand S Singh and co-directed by Tanvi Jain, the film traces the extraordinary journey of a voice that united India for over five decades — week after week, generation after generation.
