Ayushmann Khurrana will front Yash Raj Films' next big-screen outing, "Mupapa," which arrives in theatres on February 19, 2027. YRF confirmed the date through a spokesperson, locking in one of the studio's key releases for that year.
The film marks the first theatrical tie-up between Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures. Sameer Saxena directs. Producing duties fall to YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, who was behind the recent project "Saiyaara."
For YRF, the collaboration is more than a one-off. It fits into Aditya Chopra's larger plan to build a fresh creative and business framework at the studio, with Widhani steering that effort as chief executive.
So what is "Mupapa" actually about? The studio is keeping specifics under wraps, calling it a genre-defying theatrical film built for the big screen. YRF describes it as a fresh, visually striking experience meant to pull audiences in from the first frame, promising tension and edge-of-the-seat moments early on rather than a slow build.
Khurrana has stayed busy in the meantime. He was recently seen in the romantic comedy "Pati Patni Aur Woh Do," alongside Wamiqa Gabbi, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh. Written and directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film worked as a spiritual sequel to the 2019 hit "Pati Patni Aur Woh" and reached cinemas on May 15, 2026.
Reflecting on his role in that film, the actor had earlier spoken warmly about his character, Prajapati. "I found Prajapati to be a man who is honest and whose intentions are clean," he said. "Still, the kind of situations he finds himself in draws laughs, on the surface, it looks like this guy is having a lot of fun."
He went on to explain the comedy that runs underneath. "When you watch him navigate one problem after another in this comedy of errors, you realize he never imagined his life would take such a turn," Khurrana said. "He's quite a star of the jungle, but dealing with three women in the film is a chaos he never imagined would enter his life."
With "Mupapa" now dated and a new studio partnership behind it, Khurrana adds another anchor title to a run that has kept him moving between comedy and more ambitious, format-bending work. Fans will have to wait until early 2027 to see what the YRF and Posham Pa collaboration delivers.
