Amaravati, July 31 — Nearly 45 lakh voters have been deleted from the electoral roll in Andhra Pradesh after the Election Commission of India published the draft voter list on Friday following the Special Intensive Revision.

The deleted names include 22.30 lakh electors who had permanently shifted or were found absent, 15.22 lakh deceased persons, and 7.37 lakh voters enrolled at multiple places.

According to Chief Electoral Officer Vivek Yadav, enumeration forms were collected from 3.71 crore electors, representing 89.22 per cent of the total. Booth Level Officers did not locate the remaining 44.89 lakh electors or did not receive their forms because the individuals had become electors in other states or Union Territories, were no longer in existence, failed to submit the form by July 24, or declined to register for other reasons.

The Special Intensive Revision was conducted in the state from June 15 to July 24. As on July 24, out of 4,16,27,694 electors, a total of 3,71,38,182 had submitted their enumeration forms, reflecting high participation during the enumeration phase.

Yadav clarified that genuine electors whose names have been omitted can still be added during the claims and objections period running from July 31 to August 30 by submitting Form-6 along with the prescribed declaration form. Names of electors found enrolled at multiple places will be retained at only one location.

The Draft Electoral Roll was published on Friday by the Electoral Registration Officers of all 175 Assembly Constituencies. Booth-wise lists of absent, shifted, deceased and duplicate electors whose names do not appear in the draft roll have been displayed on the notice boards of ERO and AERO offices, gram panchayat and municipal offices, and polling stations. The lists are also available on the Chief Electoral Officer’s website and the respective District Election Officers’ websites.

Claims and objections can be filed from July 31 to August 30 and will be disposed of between July 31 and September 28. The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on October 3.

The CEO attributed the successful completion of the enumeration phase to the coordinated efforts of District Election Officers of all 28 districts, 175 Electoral Registration Officers, 1,079 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, 4,650 BLO Supervisors and 46,397 Booth Level Officers deployed across an equal number of polling stations.

Representatives of recognised political parties also participated actively. The number of Booth Level Agents appointed by the parties rose from 68,868 at the start of the exercise to 1,27,868, indicating increased engagement by political organisations in the revision process.
