Pune, August 17 — Jharkhand and Haryana registered their second wins to keep their qualification record intact, while Madhya Pradesh recorded their first victory and hosts Maharashtra suffered a frustrating loss to Uttar Pradesh in the 16th Hockey India Junior Women National Championship 2026 at the Maj. Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Hockey Jharkhand downed Hockey Punjab 3-1 in a Pool A encounter, while Hockey Haryana got past the Hockey Association of Odisha 3-0 in Pool B to top their respective pools. In Pool D, Hockey Madhya Pradesh came back to beat Chhattisgarh Hockey 3-1. In Pool C, Uttar Pradesh Hockey handed hosts Hockey Maharashtra a 3-0 defeat.

The tournament is being hosted by Hockey Maharashtra under the aegis of Hockey India, with matches played in two Divisions, A and B.

In a Division A, Pool A match, Hockey Jharkhand defeated Hockey Punjab 3-1. Rajni Kerketta (23’), Pushpa Dang (36’) and Salomi Nag (58’) scored for Jharkhand, while Harpreet Kaur (7’) pulled one back for Punjab. Hockey Jharkhand (6 points from 2 matches) logged their second win, while Hockey Punjab (0 points from 1 match) suffered their first loss.

Later in Pool B, Hockey Haryana defeated the Association of Odisha 3-0 for their second win and topped the pool. Goals came from Khushi (15’), Anjani (22’) and Durga (56’). Haryana now have 6 points from 2 matches.

In Pool D, Hockey Madhya Pradesh recovered to beat Chhattisgarh Hockey 3-1. Saniya Syed (10’), Tanvi (14’) and Mitali Sharma (45’) scored for the winners after Chhattisgarh took the lead through a penalty stroke by Rukhamani (15’). Madhya Pradesh (3 points from 1 match) led the pool, while Chhattisgarh (3 points from 2 matches) trailed in second place.

In Pool C, Uttar Pradesh Hockey defeated Hockey Maharashtra 3-0. Upadhyay Shweta (13’), Annu (26’) and Vandana Patel (56’) netted for the winners. Uttar Pradesh topped the group with 4 points from 2 matches, while Maharashtra (0 points from 1 match) sat at the bottom of the pool.

Earlier results from Division B also shaped the standings. Hockey Mizoram topped Pool A with 12 points from 4 matches after a 4-1 win over Hockey Andhra Pradesh. Delhi Hockey defeated Kerala Hockey 5-0, while Hockey Karnataka ended as Pool B group winners with a 6-0 victory over Goans Hockey. Hockey Bihar secured second place in the pool with a 5-1 win over the Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu.

The championship continues with remaining league matches expected to further clarify qualification scenarios across both divisions.
