Results Announced for a Major Ayush Entrance Exam
The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday announced the results of the All India Ayush Post Graduate Entrance Test (AIAPGET) 2026, with Vinod emerging as the topper in the Ayurveda discipline and Ayyamolia Akshaya coming first among Homoeopathy course aspirants, an official said.
Final Answer Keys Released
In a post on X, the NTA said, "AIAPGET 2026 final answer keys officially released. Candidates can access the final answer keys and check their answers at the official examination portal," giving candidates a mechanism to verify their responses against the official record following the result declaration.
Exam Logistics and a Re-Exam
The AIAPGET-2026 examination was conducted at 205 centres across 104 cities on August 22, recording the appearance of 49,864 candidates. A re-exam was subsequently held on September 1 for 49 candidates in Jaipur, necessitated by a power-cut-related disruption during their earlier attempt, ensuring these candidates were not disadvantaged by the technical issue.
Gender Breakdown of Candidates
Of the 49,864 candidates who appeared in AIAPGET-2026, 31,178 were female and 18,686 were male, the statement said, indicating a notably higher proportion of female candidates appearing for this particular entrance examination.
Discipline-Wise Candidate Numbers
Of these candidates, 35,838 appeared for admission to the Ayurveda course, while 10,643 appeared for Homoeopathy. A total of 2,649 candidates appeared for Unani, and 734 for Siddha, the statement said, reflecting the relative scale of interest across the different Ayush disciplines this year, with Ayurveda drawing by far the largest number of aspirants.
Number of Qualified Candidates
As many as 19,920 Ayurveda course aspirants and 5,934 Homoeopathy course candidates were declared qualified by the NTA, figures that give a clearer sense of the overall pass rate and the pool of candidates who will now be eligible to proceed toward the counselling and admission process.
Who Conducted the Examination
The NTA conducted AIAPGET-2026 on behalf of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH), in consultation with the Ministry of AYUSH, according to the statement, reflecting the collaborative institutional structure behind the examination's administration.
No Role in Counselling
The NTA clarified that it has no role in the counselling process itself. Instead, the Ayush Admissions Central Counselling Committee (AACCC) will conduct counselling for admission to All India quota seats across Government, Government Aided, National Institutions, Central and Deemed to be Universities established under Central Act, as well as designated State and Union Territory institutions, the statement said, drawing a clear line between the examination and the subsequent admissions process.
State-Level Counselling Arrangements
Separately, respective Counselling Authorities will conduct counselling for admission to State and Union Territory quota seats, based on candidates' AIAPGET-2026 merit, their choice of subject, and fulfilment of eligibility criteria, guidelines, domicile criteria and applicable reservation policies, it said, outlining a decentralised counselling structure where state-level authorities handle admissions specific to their own quota seats, separate from the centralised process managed by the AACCC for All India quota placements.
