Mumbai, August 12 — Megastar Amitabh Bachchan remembered his mother Teji Bachchan on her birth anniversary with a heartfelt tribute on Wednesday.
The actor took to social media and described her as a “symbol of inspiration, morale, patience,” saying she remains an entire world forever residing in his heart.
In his first post on X, Bachchan wrote: “T 5823 - August 12, Mother’s Birthday! Symbol of inspiration, morale, patience – A complete vast world forever residing in the heart.”
On his personal blog, he repeated the sentiment and explained why he chose not to share a photograph. In Hindi, he wrote that he would not put up a picture because the one who resides forever in the heart cannot be captured in a still.
Teji Bachchan, born Teji Suri on August 12, 1914, was the wife of celebrated Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and the mother of Amitabh and his younger brother Ajitabh Bachchan. She passed away on December 21, 2007, in Mumbai at the age of 93, a few months after her grandson Abhishek Bachchan’s wedding to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Teji married Harivansh Rai Bachchan in 1941 and was known for her association with the literary and cultural circles surrounding the poet. She was also a theatre artist and participated in stage productions, including a Hindi adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
While Ajitabh has largely stayed away from the film industry and pursued a career in business, Amitabh Bachchan has carved a monumental identity in Hindi cinema over more than five decades. He is currently hosting the quiz reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
The quiet, personal tribute marked another year of remembrance for a figure Bachchan has long credited as a source of strength and inspiration.
