With excitement building around his Aura Tour, Diljit Dosanjh has stepped in to protect his fans from a growing online trap. In a video on Instagram, the singer-actor warned people about social media pages claiming to recruit volunteers for his Delhi concert.
Diljit said his team had spotted many such posts and even showed several of them to him.
‘Don’t Share Your Information’
Speaking in Punjabi, Diljit said, “We have not asked anyone to register as a volunteer, so kindly do not share your information with anyone. If you share your information with any of these pages, you know that in today’s time, data is the biggest thing. So don’t share your information. What these pages do is take your data and then sell it. So that’s a different business. This was an important message to share because a lot of people get scammed this way.”
How the Volunteer Scam Works
Fake “volunteer” or “crew” offers prey on fans’ eagerness to get close to their favourite stars. Such pages usually ask people to fill forms with names, phone numbers, addresses, ID details or even payment for “registration”. This information can then be sold or misused for fraud.
How Fans Can Stay Safe
- Trust only updates from Diljit’s official accounts and the official ticketing partner.
- Do not share Aadhaar, PAN, bank details or OTPs with any page.
- Never pay a “registration fee” to volunteer at a concert.
- Report suspicious pages on the platform and, if cheated, call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.
A Message About Setbacks
Soon after, Diljit shared another post with a more personal tone. “Whenever someone tries to sabotage your work, sometimes it happens that that thing is not meant for you, and you deserve even better. So, just focus on that. This is definite and true: that ‘whatever is happening, it is happening on his (God’s) command,’” he said.
He added, “Even if you are going through a difficult time today and suffering because of that, it might be that it’s for your own good. You are being made stronger for a better task and a better platform.”
Delhi Show in Question
The messages came on the same day as reports that Delhi Police had denied permission for Diljit’s October 30 show at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, citing security concerns. Diljit did not directly mention the Delhi show in his motivational post, but many fans are reading it in that context. An official update on the concert is still awaited.
Why It Matters
Big concerts often attract scammers selling fake tickets, passes and jobs. By speaking out directly, Diljit used his reach to protect fans, a reminder that personal data is valuable and should never be shared casually online.
What Comes Next
Fans are now waiting for clarity on the Delhi concert, while the Aura Tour is set to move on to Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Kolkata.
