Key Highlights

  • Rare texts donated: BVP Sirsa presented ancient, rare Sanskrit and astrology texts to the Pt. Jagdish Chandra Shastri Sanskrit Library at Sanatan Dharma Sanskrit College.
  • Books for students: Useful books for competitive exam aspirants and Class 11 and 12 students were given to the Baba Sarsai Nath Book Bank, Shri Gaushala, Sirsa.
  • Led by women members: The event was led by President Raghveer Singla and coordinated by Women’s Participation Convenor Suman Gautam.
  • A week of service: Activities included fruit distribution at an old age home, sanitary pad distribution via an anganwadi, and kanya pujan.
  • Continued support: Members pledged to keep supporting the book bank in future.

The Sirsa branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) organised a stationery and rare text distribution programme on the seventh day of its cultural week. The event was led by the branch’s women members (Matrishakti) under the leadership of its energetic President Raghveer Singla and coordinated by Suman Gautam, Convenor of Women’s Participation.

On the occasion, the branch presented ancient and rare texts on Sanskrit and astrology to Acharya Vikram Sharma of Sanatan Dharma Sanskrit College, for the college’s Pt. Jagdish Chandra Shastri Sanskrit Library.

Helping Needy Students Through a Book Bank

The branch also donated useful books to the Baba Sarsai Nath Book Bank at Shri Gaushala, Sirsa, for students preparing for competitive exams and those studying in Classes 11 and 12. Run by the Baba Sarsai Nath Book Bank Welfare Trust, the book bank provides books and study material to thousands of needy children every year.

BVP members praised the trust’s noble effort wholeheartedly and decided to continue supporting the initiative in the future. Trust President Gurdeep Saini, Joint Secretary Anil Kumar and well-known social worker Ranjeet Singh Takkar welcomed the BVP members and thanked them.

Why It Matters

The programme connects the needs of two very different groups. Rare Sanskrit and astrology texts in a college library help preserve ancient knowledge and keep it accessible to scholars. Competitive exam books, meanwhile, support students who may struggle to afford costly study material. In a book bank model, a single donated book can serve several students over the years, so the impact of each contribution lasts well beyond the day it is given.

A Week Full of Service Projects

Over the seven days of its cultural week, BVP Sirsa carried out several service activities. These included fruit distribution and service at an old age home, sanitary pad distribution for women’s health through the Chatargarh Patti Anganwadi, and the worship of girls from poor families (kanya pujan) on the first day of Navratri, along with distribution of educational material to them.

The Bigger Picture

Local social organisations often reach people that larger schemes miss. By serving the elderly, women, young girls and students through separate projects, BVP Sirsa turned its cultural week into a programme of community service rather than a ceremonial event alone.

Those Present

Present on the occasion were BVP Regional Activity Convenor (Sanskar) Hariom Bhardwaj, District Coordinator Pramod Mohan Gautam, Branch President Raghveer Singla, Sushil Gupta, and Pensioners’ Samaj District President Rajendra Gupta.
