Punjab Police Launch e-Zero FIR for Cyber Frauds
Punjab Police have activated an e-zero FIR system for cyber financial frauds above Rs 5 lakh to enable faster registration and fund freezing.
Chandigarh, July 29 — Punjab Police have operationalised an e-zero first information report (FIR) mechanism for cyber financial fraud cases involving sums above Rs 5 lakh, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.
The system was formally activated under directions issued by Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. It allows eligible complaints lodged through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or the national helpline 1930 to be converted automatically into e-zero FIRs and transmitted electronically via the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) to the relevant Cyber Crime Police Station in the district or Commissionerate concerned.
