'Development of the Cantt Is Linked to the Development of Lucknow'
Speaking during the event, Rajnath Singh framed the launch as a demonstration of what happens when the Centre and the state align to deliver good governance on the ground.
"The development of Lucknow Cantonment is closely linked with the progress of Lucknow. Coordinated efforts by the Centre and the state can accelerate development and good governance," he said.

The initiatives being launched include an Artificial Intelligence-based Solid Waste Management Plant; a Multi-Utility Sports Complex; a Modern Crematorium; a 1500 KL Underground Reservoir; replacement of the old water supply pipeline; construction of eight tubewells with SCADA Automation; Overhead Tanks with SCADA integration; a Special School for Differently Abled Children; construction of additional classrooms and toilets at RA Bazar Madhyamik Vidyalaya; construction of additional classrooms and toilets at Rainbow Model School; Multi-Level Robotic Car Parking and Commercial Complex; and Legacy Waste — Bio-Mining and Bio-Remediation.
The two projects being implemented in collaboration with the state government are the RA Bazar City Polyclinic and the Mukhyamantri Abhyudaya Coaching Centre — both of which directly serve residents through healthcare and educational access.
That's the kind of project mix that reflects a modern urban development philosophy — leveraging technology (AI-based waste plants, SCADA-integrated tubewells, robotic parking), while simultaneously investing in inclusion, education and public health.

He emphasised that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is moving forward with the resolve to become a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047. But he added an important nuance — one that shaped much of his speech.
'Viksit Bharat', he said, does not merely mean grand projects and modern buildings. It also means children receiving quality education, clean water reaching every household, youth getting opportunities to play and showcase their talent, and a differently-abled child never feeling left behind by society. He reiterated the Union government's commitment to ensuring that development directly improves the quality of life for ordinary citizens.

Rajnath Singh also spent a portion of his address highlighting one of the more culturally significant changes underway at Lucknow Cantonment — the renaming of markets that had carried British-era names for decades.
"Royal Artillery Bazar has been renamed Ekta Bazar, British Cavalry Bazar as Uda Devi Bazar, British Infantry Bazar as Matadin Valmiki Bazar and another British Infantry Bazar as Mangal Pandey Bazar, while Kanedy Market has been renamed Atal Bihari Vajpayee Market. The initiative seeks to connect future generations with India's heritage and inspire national service," he said.
Each renaming carries symbolic weight. Uda Devi, Matadin Valmiki and Mangal Pandey are figures deeply embedded in India's freedom struggle. Atal Bihari Vajpayee's inclusion links contemporary political history with the Cantt's public geography. And 'Ekta Bazar' as a name replacement carries an unmistakable message of national unity.
