Delhi to See Cloudy Skies, Light Rain Today

As of Sunday morning, Delhi was under cloudy skies with a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius. High humidity levels of 87 per cent made conditions feel significantly warmer, with the apparent temperature reaching 36 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has forecast a maximum temperature of around 34 degrees Celsius during the day, with scattered thunderstorms and light rain expected later. Monsoon activity is likely to intensify over the coming days, with forecasts pointing to heavier rainfall and thunderstorms across the city through the week.

The prevailing weather is expected to offer intermittent relief from the heat, although elevated humidity is likely to keep conditions uncomfortable between rain spells.

On Saturday the national capital recorded a marginal rise in daytime temperatures despite scattered trace rainfall in parts of the city. Delhi’s primary weather station at Safdarjung registered a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius, 0.6 degree above the seasonal normal and unchanged from the previous day. The minimum temperature settled at 27.9 degrees Celsius, 0.8 degree above normal and 0.7 degree lower than Friday’s reading.

Among other stations, Palam recorded a maximum of 34 degrees Celsius, an increase of 0.5 degree from the previous day, and a minimum of 25.6 degrees Celsius, 0.2 degree lower than the day before.

Cloudy skies and intermittent light rain are expected to characterise Sunday’s weather, with the prospect of more active monsoon conditions later in the week.
