Who Is Taking Part

The present batch includes 20 students and two teachers from the Government Higher Secondary School, Rusoma, in Kohima, Nagaland. They will be visiting Guwahati, Tenga, Tawang and Tezpur before returning to Kohima on September 28, covering a route that spans both major urban centres and remote, strategically significant border areas.

"This tour will give the young minds first-hand insight into India's rich diversity, frontier regions and the role of security forces in safeguarding the nation," the Spear Corps posted on X, framing the tour's educational value in terms of both cultural understanding and civic awareness of national security.

The Strategic and Cultural Significance of Tenga and Tawang

Both Tenga and Tawang are located in Arunachal Pradesh and play a key role in the defence of India's northern border. At the same time, both places carry a rich cultural heritage, giving students visiting these locations exposure to a region that is simultaneously of deep strategic importance and distinct cultural identity, an intersection that is central to the broader goals of the Seema Darshan programme.

Tezpur's Military Importance

Tezpur, in Assam, is also of immense strategic importance. It houses the headquarters of the Army's IV Corps, known as the Gajraj Corps, and is also home to an Indian Air Force fighter base that operates frontline aircraft such as the Su-30 MKI, giving students a direct, close-up view of some of India's most significant military infrastructure in the region.

A Continuing Programme for Nagaland's Youth

This marks the second such tour for youth from Nagaland this year. In March, 20 students and three teachers from Bhandari in the Wokha district of Nagaland had travelled to Guwahati and Kolkata to explore important educational institutions and historical landmarks, indicating that this programme has been actively sustained across multiple batches and destinations throughout the year.

A Previous Trip to Delhi and Agra

In 2025, students and teachers from the PM Shri Government High School in Yangphi, located in the Kiphire district of Nagaland, were taken to Delhi and Agra. They visited historical landmarks including the Red Fort and the Taj Mahal, and also paid tribute at the National War Museum, reflecting how these tours have varied in destination and focus across different batches, sometimes emphasising historical and cultural landmarks and, in this current instance, frontier and strategic regions instead.

What's Planned for This Trip

During the present trip, interactions with senior military officers and community leaders have been planned. This will help foster national integration and empower the youth, the Army said, underscoring that the tour's objectives extend beyond sightseeing to include direct engagement with military leadership and local communities as a means of strengthening the students' broader sense of connection to the country's diverse regions and institutions.
