India Hosted Two-Day Summit as 2026 BRICS Chair

As BRICS chair for 2026, India hosted the two-day summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, bringing together leaders from BRICS member states, partner countries and outreach invitees.

BRICS currently comprises Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE, alongside ten partner countries: Belarus, Cuba, Bolivia, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

PM Modi Calls for Time-Bound Action on Summit Outcomes

Speaking a day earlier at the summit's session on "Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," Prime Minister Modi said the two days of discussions had reinforced BRICS' role as an "ecosystem of solutions" rather than merely a grouping of nations. He expressed hope that the New Delhi Declaration adopted at the summit would offer clear direction for the bloc's future cooperation, and called for translating outcomes into concrete, time-bound action rather than documentation alone.

Modi thanked fellow BRICS leaders for their participation and said their input had added depth to the grouping's cooperation, describing the scale of engagement as a sign of BRICS' growing relevance and inclusiveness.

Looking ahead to BRICS' third decade, Modi said the bloc now faces rising expectations for concrete results rather than ideas alone, and expressed confidence that collective effort would meet those expectations. He also extended good wishes to China, which will host the next BRICS summit, and thanked the organising teams for the New Delhi summit's success.
