Systemic Failure Hits Peak Travel Window
Acknowledging the widespread outage through an official service advisory on social media platform X, IndiGo confirmed ongoing operational friction within its central reservation infrastructure.
"We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with our core reservation platform, which may make it difficult for some customers to access our online services," the low-cost carrier stated in an official advisory. "Our teams are working on priority, along with our partner, to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."
The airline declined to specify the technical root cause of the crash or identify the third-party technology provider managing the reservation software.
Friday's digital outage follows an identical system-wide crash on Wednesday, August 19, where similar server freezes caused widespread check-in failures. During Wednesday's disruption, ground staff at major aviation hubs like Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport were forced to switch to manual check-in procedures, causing lengthy queues and minor flight departure delays.
Passengers Vent Frustration Amid Market Dominance Concerns
Frustrated flyers inundated social media platforms with screenshots of failed transactions, unconfirmed debit charges, and seat allocation errors. Several travelers reported being unable to download digital boarding passes hours before scheduled departures, leaving many stranded at airport entry gates without valid travel documentation.
Industry analysts highlight that given IndiGo’s immense market share—commanding roughly 67% of domestic passenger traffic—even brief technical snags generate massive ripple effects across India's transportation network.
IndiGo advised passengers with immediate travel requirements to seek assistance directly at airport helpdesks or contact its centralized customer care centers. However, the airline has yet to issue a definitive timeline for the full restoration of its online booking and check-in portals.
