IIT Delhi Gold Medallists Praise PM Modi's Convocation Address

Students Note Campus Familiarity and Relatability

In direct interactions following the ceremony, several gold medal winners expressed surprise at the Prime Minister’s detailed knowledge of daily student life on the Hauz Khas campus.

"The way he delivered his speech was thoroughly connecting. It was not like we were listening to our Prime Minister. It was like some senior was talking to us," said Amarpreet Singh, recipient of the Perfect Ten Gold Medal in M.Tech Structural Engineering. "It is encouraging that student voices are not only being heard but are also being honored at the national level."

Akshat Singhal, who was awarded the prestigious President's Gold Medal in B.Tech Computer Science, noted how the Prime Minister referenced specific campus traditions, including late-night study sessions and local eateries.

"I was very surprised how the Prime Minister was actually familiar with all the little things that we have on the campus, such as 'Nightmess' or getting to Jia Sarai for poha," Singhal said. "That particularly highlights how eager he is to connect with us all. We see a direct effort to engage with Gen Z and youth across multiple platforms."

Focus on Youth and Research Innovation

The sentiment was echoed by Ramireddy Venkata Sai Reddy, Perfect Ten Gold Medalist in M.Tech Biomedical Engineering, who highlighted how subtle campus references resonated with the graduating batch.

"He was very aware of the things happening in the hostel, even mentioning things that happen at 3 a.m.," Reddy said. "These small details made us very happy that such a prominent figure captured the moments that made our overall campus life memorable."

During the ceremony, academic leaders highlighted IIT Delhi’s ongoing research contributions in biomedical engineering, artificial intelligence, and structural sustainability. PM Modi reiterated the Union government's focus on aligning higher education policy with research-driven entrepreneurship, urging the incoming cohort of engineers to turn academic projects into scalable public utility solutions.
